Jeera Aaloo

Hello to all the dear blog readers. Thanks for all the appreciation and interest you are showing in my "baby" blog these days. I am calling this blog "baby" as it is very close to my heart. Wring this blog gives me immense satisfaction and gives me same pleasure as one attains by seeing his baby grow day by day. Although I don't have one, but I can still sense the joy :D .

Today I am going to share a very simple and quick recipe "Jeera Aloo". It is a common dish which almost every one of us has eaten in tiffin during school days. One bite instantly takes me to the school playground, eating the tiffin sitting under a tree chit-chatting with friends or on a swing or swallowing up the food so that we can play a quick round of "Pakdam Pakdai" in those 20 minutes of interval. The memories of making balls out of used foil papers and throwing over each other, eagles swiftly coming down to pick up food from the playground and scaring children, drinking water from the water coolers brings a smile on my face.

If you have boiled potatoes in the fridge, then preparing this recipe will not take more than 10 minutes.

List Of Ingredients:

  • Boiled Potatoes-6
  • Ghee- 3 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds- 2 tsp
  • Salt-1 tsp(or to taste)
  • Coriander Powder-2 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder-1 tsp
  • Raw Mango Powder-1 tsp
  • Garam Masala- 1/2 tsp
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves- 3 tbsp

Steps To Prepare:

Chop the boiled potatoes into small cubes. Sprinkle salt, coriander powder, red chilli powder and raw mango powder over it and mix well.

Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds to it. Once the seed starts crackling, add the potatoes to it.

Give it a stir and cover it with a lid for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, open the lid. Sprinkle garam masala and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well but gently. Cook it for another 2-3 minutes.

Yummy "Jeera Aloo" are ready!! Enjoy with Chapati/Paratha or Pooris or you can even make a sandwich out of it :) .
