Dulce de leche

Dulce de leche is name for caramelised condensed milk and can be easily made at home. It is quite sweet, thick and little dark in colour when compared to condensed milk. It brings a wonderful 
texture and heavenly sweetness when added to cakes, cookies, pie.

The recipes which you can make using it: 


  • Condensed Milk Tin - 200 ml/400 ml (buy here)

Steps To Prepare:

Take a can of condensed milk, remove the paper label if there is any on the can.

Place the tin in a pressure cooker and fill the cooker with water so that it is fully immersed in water. Infact the water level should be above the can.

Keep the cooker on high flame. After one whistle lower the flame. Keep on low flame for 10-12 minutes if you are using a 200 ml tin and for 20-25 minutes if you are using 400 ml tin.

Switch off the flame and let the pressure release. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and let the water cool a bit. Take out the can carefully and let it cool also.

Open the can and enjoy the yummy "Dulce de leche" in the way you want to!!

    1. Glad you liked the recipe dear. Personally I have never stored DDL for very long time..I think maximum for a week or so. You can make it and transfer it in any airtight container for later use. I would advice you to just check once for any discolouration or foul smell if you are using it after storing it for a really long time!! Thanks :)
