Sesame Honey Chilli Oats



Sesame Honey Chilli Oats is a delicious nutritious recipe with Desi-Chinese twist to the regular oats. It combines the goodness of oats with honey and sesame. Oats have number of health benefits. They contain Beta glucan fibre that helps in reducing cholesterol, maintaining weight, reducing the risk of high blood pressure and also acts as a good source of protein. These days as people are becoming more health conscious because of the sedentary lifestyle, oats is gaining popularity day by day. Including oats (which are so healthy and quick to make) in your everyday diet would defintely be a smart choice. 
If you are bored with usual oats porridge, then this recipe could be your life saviour. It is a perfect option when you are not in a mood to prepare elaborate lunch or dinner and looking for instant one bowl recipe as this dish can be prepared in less than 10 minutes. This recipe is not only guilt free but also satisfies the taste buds when craving for some Chinese flavours.
One thing I would like to point out before proceeding further, honey is added in this dish at the end after switching off the flame. I have across so many articles on the internet which state that cooking with honey on very high temperatures kills all its nutritional value and it becomes toxic. So it is a request, please do not add honey in the beginning of the recipe.
I have used Quaker oats for this dish. You can use any brand of your choice. Also if you are making  it for kids then you can skip the dried red chilly. 



List Of Ingredients: (Serves 1)


  • Oats- 1/2 cup
  • Water-250 ml 
  • Olive Oil-2tbsp
  • Dried Red Chilli- 1
  • Soya sauce-1/4 tbsp
  • Chilli Sauce-1tbsp
  • Tomato ketchup-2tbsp
  • Vinegar-1/2 tsp
  • Honey-1 tbsp
  • Salt-1 tsp (or to taste)
  • Black Pepper- 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted sesame seeds- 1 tsp (For garnishing)

Preparation Time: 10 minutes


Steps to Prepare:


Step1:
Heat oil in a non stock pan. Add dried red chilli, soya sauce, chilli sauce and tomato ketchup to it. Mix well.



Step2:
Add water to the pan. Add salt and black pepper to it. Mix well.



Step3:
Add oats to the above pan. Cook them on medium flame till they are soft and mushy. Once they are done, switch off the flame and add vinegar and honey. Mix thoroughly.



Garnish with roasted sesame seeds and serve hot!!
