Triple Flavour Lassi / Fruit Smoothie Recipe


Triple Layer Lassi or Fruit Smoothie is a delectable drink where each fruit flavour is stacked on top of other. It not only looks beautiful but it is quite healthy too. It requires just handful of ingredients and few minutes of preparation time.

This post is especially dedicated to Mother's day which is to be celebrated this year on 14th May 2017. My personal interpretation for the different colours in this triple layered lassi truly describes some of the qualities our mothers own. The yellow colour stands for all the brightness and warmth that mothers fill our life with. The pink colour is for her selfless love, affection and care that she always showers on her kids; and the white layer with cardamom aroma signifies her everlasting imprint on her kids' life. She may not be with you but still you can feel her presence around.

As the entire smoothie is made of yoghurt and fruits it is quite healthy. It contains the goodness of mangoes and strawberries which are full of fibre, antioxidants, vitamin A and vitamin C. If you are looking forward to surprise your mom by making breakfast for her, this triple layer yoghurt smoothie is perfect choice for it. Along with it you can make pancakes or muffins and your menu is set!!

The three layers comprise of following ingredients:

Layer I - Mango Puree + Yoghurt/Curd

Layer II- Strawberry Puree + Yoghurt/Curd

Layer III- Yoghurt/Curd + Cardamom powder

You can adjust the sugar in layers as per your choice.  Sugar can even be replaced by honey.

The main trick in this drink to maintain the consistency of each layer. Bottom most layer should be thicker. As you go up, the layers should become lighter so that they float separately and don't mix.

List Of Ingredients: (Total quantity-500ml)

Layer I: (Bottom layer)

  • Mango Puree-1/4 cup
  • Curd/Yoghurt- 1/2 cup
  • Sugar-1/2 tsp


Layer II: (Middle layer)

  • Strawberry Puree-2 tbsp
  • Curd/Yoghurt-1/2 cup
  • Sugar-1/2 tsp


Layer III: (Top layer)

  • Water-2 tbsp
  • Curd/Yoghurt-1/2 cup
  • Cardamom (Elaichi) powder-1/8 tsp
  • Sugar-1/2 tsp

Steps To Prepare:


Step1:
Take mango puree, yoghurt and sugar in a blending jar or food processor. Blend well.


Transfer this mango lassi or smoothie in a tall serving glass.





Step2:
Take strawberry puree and yoghurt in a blending jar. Blend well.



Transfer this strawberry lassi or smoothie carefully on top of mango layer. Use spoon at this step. Pour strawberry smoothie on the side of glass along the spoon. This will prevent the layers from mixing.




Step3:
Take yoghurt, water, cardamom powder and sugar in a blending jar. Blend well. Pour this plain lassi using spoon on top of strawberry layer. Don't pour the layer directly on strawberry layer otherwise the two layers would mix.
