Sprouts Salad

Today I am going to share Sprouts Salad recipe. I have used "Moong Sabut" dal for this. You can also use "Kala Chana" for the same. The sprouts are high in proteins and make a wonderful breakfast or evening snack. It is oil free, light and full of veggies.

Some people prefer to eat it without steaming or boiling the sprouts but I personally like to steam them as it removes the bitterness from them. The method of sprouting the Moong dal has been explained in detail below. After which there are steamed in a steamer and mixed with different veggies.

Moong Dal sprouts are high in proteins, and other nutrients like folate, iron, magnesium and potassium etc. It is a gluten free recipe. It is filling and at the same time nutritious. Especially for those people who are looking for no oil recipe or dieting recipe, it is a very good option. It is not only for those who are on weight loss journey but also for improving overall health and fitness.

With so many health benefits, you would definitely want to make your kids eat moong dal sprouts. However, as most of the them are quite fussy when it comes to eating such healthy food, you can make "Cheela" or pancakes out of them. The detailed recipe for Moong Dal Cheela is given here. It is a kids friendly recipe.

List Of Ingredients: (Serves 2)

Moong Sabut- 1/4 cup
Chopped small onion- 1
Chopped small tomato- 1
Chopped small boiled potato- 1
Chopped cucumber- 1/2
Chopped green chillies- 2
Lemon Juice- 2 tsp
Salt- 1/2 tsp(or to taste)
Chaat Masala- 1 tsp (or to taste)
Coriander- For Garnishing

Steps To Prepare:

Step1:
Wash moong daal in clean water and then soak it in water for 5-6 hours. After that drain the water, sprinkle some water and cover it up with a plate.

Step2:
You will notice after few hours that the moong daal particles have swollen and sprouting has begun. At this stage wash it with clean water once again.

Step3:
Now wrap the semi sprouted moong daal particles loosely in a wet muslin cloth for overnight. Next day you will notice the sprouting is completed.

Step4:
Transfer the sprouted moong dal in a steamer. I am using a steamer as shown below. Place the sprouts in this steamer and cover it with a lid for 10 minutes.
I got this steamer (buy here) from online shopping site. It is otherwise available in retail stores these days.

Step5:
Once the sprouts are steamed, let them cool for few minutes. Mix them with all the chopped vegetables. Add salt, chaat masala, and lemon juice. Garnish with coriander leaves.
